The only MP left in the Country

Godfrey Bloom (seemingly the only MP left in the country for interviews and comment) is in trouble for his remarks on BongoBongo land but he was also on Radio 2 spouting terrible rubbish, which people seemed to agree with and I'm confused about the whole issue.

Godfrey stated catagorically that he would not employ a woman of child bearing age because she might have a baby and he would have to pay maternity pay.  The phone lines flooded with men and women who ran small businesses who agreed with him.  Not only that, they were now not employing young men, just in case they took paternity leave.

These are the reasons I'm confused.

1.  Not all women have children
2.  Not all women take much time off
3.  Some young women would be better at the job
4.  The government refunds the maternity pay to the company after they've paid it, with a little extra for small businesses to cover their admin costs.
5.  People leave jobs after being trained for many reasons other than having children.
6. People returning to work following maternity or paternity leave may have gained a very useful perspective on life and skills that only being a parent can teach them.
7.  Surely, these people confessing openly that they are discriminating on the grounds of age, sex and presumed fertility are breaking the law.

If only they'd locked Godfrey up after his radio 2 broadcast he would never have been able to say Bongo Bongo land.
