Why the sexes can never be truly equal

Women are different to men.  That's obvious to anyone who has looked at underwear or has a basic grasp of anatomy but since Germaine Greer wrote the brilliant Female Eunuch women have been striving for equality.

Sometimes the differences are insurmountable  and one of the main difficulties seems to lie in the injury and accident area.  Men are more likely to die if they have an accident, which is a distinct disadvantage for them but women are prone to accidents that never seem to trouble the opposite sex.

Men never have those burn marks on the arm that women get from the iron or the oven.

There are people that would argue that it's because men do not iron or cook but the Long Suffering Husband does both of these things and never sports this particular mark.  It seems as though iron and oven are only four letter words for women.

Shoes are are another source of accidents for women.  Stubbing toes from tripping up in sandals or flip flops is a big risk for many women and then there is the whole twisted ankle from high heels problem.

The solution is simple.  If women wore sensible shoes like men wear then these sort of accidents would be history.  But who can resist beautiful high heels?

Breaking a fingernail can feel like the end of the world. This isn't a problem for men, for some reason they don't seem to mind.  It can be quite uncomfortable, particularly if the fingernail is sliced off with the potato peeler a bit too close to the end of the finger.

The Long Suffering Husband has many stories of people he know who have chopped whole fingers off on electric band saws or other power tools.  I think I'll stick to long fingernails and potato peelers.
